Band and Orchestra information for 2017-18

Principals, Teachers, Parents, and Students,

As spring approaches, plans for the 2017-18 school year are well under way. As always, DMPS is committed to providing the best opportunities and instruction for all students. Thanks to the hard work of our teachers and administrators, enrollment in the arts has grown exponentially over the past few years.

Based on our current staffing, band and orchestra instruction will be provided for 5th grade students only beginning in the fall of 2017. This will allow all interested 5th grade students more playing time, more instruction, and individual supports as needed.

The beginning band and orchestra programs will be offered in each of the comprehensive elementary schools and will provide a great transition to middle school programming.

DMPS is deeply committed to building strong music programs for every student. Thank you for your continued support of the arts in our schools!
