Combat Hunger

Cattell will support the Food Bank of Iowa by collecting non-perishable food items and personal hygiene/paper products for Combat Hunger.  All items that we collect through the food drive are distributed to partners and clients in the 55-county service area. Having a steady supply of nonperishable foods also allows the Food Bank of Iowa to focus donated funds where they can make the most impact: purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meat, dairy products, and eggs. These nutritious foods are seldom donated, and their high costs make them difficult for hungry Iowans to buy. Through this effort, we’re able to turn every $1 donated into 4 meals.

Students can bring their items beginning November 6th.  Collection will end on November 15th.  The K-2 and 3-5 classroom with the most items will win a Pizza Party!!

Below is a list of Combat Hunger’s most needed items:

Protein (peanut butter, canned meat, canned fish)

• Canned fruits

• Canned vegetables

• Canned soup

• Dry pasta

• Breakfast items (including cereal)

• 100% fruit juice

• Personal care and paper items (soap, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.)
