AmeriCorps Creates Mural at Cattell

Members of AmeriCorps joined staff from Cattell Elementary School to paint a mural in the cafeteria celebrating the school’s diversity, part of our observance of MLK Day.

Cattell Elementary School is named for Jonathon Cattell, a legislator and state auditor for Iowa in the 1800s. He was also a strong abolitionist who helped support the construction of the school’s original building as a people for educational opportunity for all, regardless of race.
